Description
The white petals of the peace lily are sometimes compared to white flags, hence the name. The peace lily is a member of the arum family, along with more commonly known members such as Zantedeschia, Lords and Ladies (Arum maculatum), and Swiss Cheese Plant (Monstera). Grown indoors, peace lilies help filter the air and don’t require a lot of attention.
Peace lilies do best when grown in indirect light. To prevent the compost from drying out, water it on a regular basis. Liquid house plant food should be applied every two weeks during the spring and summer. Remove faded flowers and clean or dust the leaves frequently to promote healthy photosynthesis. It may be necessary to spray the leaves occasionally to increase humidity in dry rooms.
